Get out of jail free! Increasingly politicians and professionals expect to be treated as celebrities, judged by less demanding standards than the ordinary citizen. Politicians cling to power and all the perks of the job, even when publicly disgraced. The very people setting the standards for others to follow, abuse standards themselves. Cheats are not sacked they are simply moved sideways. Many politicians and professionals are clearly able to abuse their privileged position, enjoy a free ride, at public expense, free of blame.
